“I wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude for the performance of one of your service techs at McIntosh Heating and A/C in Marble Falls, of which I understand you’re the owner.
This morning, Tim Brandt came to my residence to look at our 15 year-old Trane XE 1200 unit. The a/c had quit working a week ago as a result of a tripped breaker. After resetting the breaker, restarting the condenser unit resulted in major arcing under the compressor’s sound blanket, along with some smoke and another breaker trip. I was certain the compressor had a dead short internally, or a locked rotor, and that I was looking at compressor replacement, condenser replacement, or due to the age of the unit, entire system replacement. None of these alternatives made our budget happy at this time.
Tim arrived on-time, and I have never met a more courteous or more professional technician in my life. He was extremely knowledgeable, and his troubleshooting skills were quick and thorough. Much to my relief, he pinpointed the problem as a shorted crankcase heater, ordered the part, wired a temporary workaround, and will return next week to effect the repair.
Having briefly sold residential air conditioning (about a hundred years ago!) I recognize that this might have been an opportunity to sell us on replacement, something not in our immediate budget. Tim’s honesty and obvious skill have made me a new McIntosh customer, and you can be assured that when we replace our system in about two years, we will call McIntosh to do the job.

I had an air conditioning system installed by another local company. I started running into problems almost immediately after the work was done. I called McIntosh Air Conditioning and Heating to assess the problem. It turned out that some poor decisions were made during the installation and needed to be corrected. The technician was very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. In no time at all, I had a smooth-running system. Several years later, the air conditioner just quit working. The technician came out on the weekend and inspected everything thoroughly, a couple of small adjustments were made, and it was in good order again.
